🌿Healing Garden Project 🌿

Our Healing Garden project is an ongoing community initiative designed to create a calm, restorative outdoor space for patients, visitors, and staff at Eastham Group Practice. The garden will offer a peaceful environment to support wellbeing, encourage connection with nature, and provide a welcoming place for reflection and recovery.

FroHealinggardenproject01m raised beds and sensory planting to accessible seating areas, the garden is being shaped with the community in mind. Local volunteers, patients, and partner organisations are all playing a part in bringing this vision to life.

🌸 The Poppy Factory 🌸

The Poppy Factory helps veterans and their families to make progress on the path to employment. The people they support can face some of the most challenging situations in the Armed Forces community. Each year, their specialist team helps hundreds of people to feel healthier, more independent and better connected.

Employment Support service, which covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, where veterans can either Register themselves, or if you or any members of the team are referring it helps to complete our partner registration form so we can collaborate where necessary.

Families Employment Support: The Families Employment Service is available to any adult family member supporting or caring for a member of the Armed Forces community who has, or has recovered from, a health condition. This includes ‘chosen family’, separated partners, adult children, and parents of veterans, etc. The service is suitable for anyone who is unemployed and looking to move into employment, or who has difficulties in their current role as a result of their circumstances and needs help to keep their job or move to a new one.

        Individuals can self-refer, or if you or any members of the team are referring it helps to complete our professionals referral form so we can collaborate where necessary.

        We have a team of three colleagues delivering the Families Service, and Charleigh is the most local to you so a good contact to have for sharing with the wider group – who between them have lived experience and a wealth of knowledge.

Navigator Service (Currently available in: Cheshire & Merseyside, London, Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Walsall. South Wales: Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and South Powys. Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot. Solent: Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport, Southampton and Havant): The Poppy Factory Navigator Service is for veterans who are referred by a professional with an agreed goal, and who meet the following criteria: ​

        Would benefit from meaningful activities to improve their overall health and wellbeing​;

        Are engaged with health services or professionals, or have a health condition that limits their daily activity;​

        Are not in employment, or their employment is affecting their health and wellbeing;

        Have longer term aspirations to take up vocational activities (work, education, volunteering); and

        Live in one of our pilot areas noted above.

        Individuals will need to be referred by a professional, who is supporting a veteran with their mental or physical health needs, or more generally – so please do share the flyer with anyone you feel this service may be suitable for, and they can liaise with their healthcare or other professional supporting them.

 

Ramblerswellbeingwalks🚶‍♂️‍➡️ Ramblers Wellbeing Walks at Eastham Group Practice 🚶‍♂️

Getting active can be difficult. But we’re here to help. With Wirral Wellbeing Walks, you can take part in a free short walk nearby to help you get active and stay active at a pace that works for you.

It’s a great way to stretch your legs, explore what’s on your doorstep, and make new friends. For over 20 years, we’ve helped thousands of people discover the many benefits of regular group walks. From reducing stress to losing weight to sharing laughs, Wirral Wellbeing Walks has something for everyone.

Why Walk?

Walking is truly accessible – almost everyone can do it anywhere and at any time. It won’t cost you anything and you don’t need any fancy equipment to hit the pavement. If you still need convincing, here are a few positive things that walking can do for your health.

  • Help your heart and lungs work better.
  • Lower your blood pressure.
  • Lighten your mood.
  • Keep your joints, muscles, and bones strong.
  • Increase ‘good’ cholesterol.

How to get involved

Ramblers Wellbeing Walks Wirral are free, fun, and friendly – perfect to help you get active and meet new people. If you’d like to take part, all you have to do is come along to the start point of one of our walks 10 minutes early, so that one of our trained walk leaders can take your details. Then you’re free to take part in as many walks as you like, as often as you like.
