Eastham Group Practice, in collaboration with Healthier South Wirral, is proud to be part of the national CLEAR programme, which focuses on increasing heart disease screenings in our community. Heart disease is a silent threat, often progressing without symptoms until it’s too late. That’s why early detection is crucial, especially for individuals aged 40 to 74.

Over the past few months, we’ve set up a dedicated community clinic at Bebington Library, and we’re also offering screenings at your practice with specially selected staff. Our mission is to raise awareness about the importance of heart disease screening and to provide convenient opportunities for at-risk individuals in our local area to get screened.

Our primary goal at Eastham Group Practice is to support the early identification of individuals who may be at a greater risk of developing heart disease. This proactive approach is key to preventing severe outcomes, as conditions like high blood pressure and high cholesterol often present no symptoms. Unfortunately, this means that many people live with these conditions for extended periods without realizing they are at increased risk for strokes and heart attacks.

Did you know that for every 10 people diagnosed with heart disease, 7 more go undiagnosed in the UK? This statistic highlights the urgent need for screenings. If you’re between 40 and 74 and haven’t been diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, or experienced a heart attack or stroke, you’re eligible for this important pre-screening programme.
